A bespoke mitre can be made in your choice of fabrics and braids, and embellished with your own designs. All are carefully sized to your own head measurements.
Mitres
Derived from the Greek and Latin word mitra
Our mitres are made to complement our vestment ranges or can be made entirely bespoke. The mitre is part of the traditional regalia worn by bishops and abbots. The shape recalls the distinctive headwear of the High Priest in the Old Testament, and in the New the tongues of flame which appeared over the head of the Apostles at Pentecost. The two strips of cloth hanging from behind (called lappets or infulae) represent the Old and New Testament.
Inspiring designs
